Tavares and Ovi-Chicken both belong on this list. Pavelski is a very good player but not in the top 10.

Ovechkin puts up a lot of goals, yet nobody ever mentions how many shots he puts on net.

Taking a look at shooting percentages, Ovechkin only ranks 44th for career shooting percentage among active players.

http://www.hockey-referen...ders/shot_pct_active.html

His defense has improved, but is still lacking.

Without so many shots on net, he's good, but, in my mind, not the "elite goal scorer" that is constantly thrown out there. And wouldn't even be ranked as high as 11 in my list of the best players...

A goalie's role is so different I am not sure they should even be on the same list. In fact, I am not sure Dmen and Forwards should be on the same list.

Ovechkin > Pavelski though, at the very least.

It's a joke to leave Ovechkin off of any NHL list of the best NHL players.

Guy scored 50 goals or more 7 seasons.
Scored 32 during the lockout one.

Everyone can do that.

Any list with Kane, Teows, and Doughty over Ovi is a joke.

No, it's genius. Because now 3,000 morons are smashing their keyboards and giving free publicity to a failing, garbage publication.

So what you're saying is that the ability to get shots on net is not a skill? Elite goal scorers score a lot of goals. Ovechkin scores a lot of goals.

Ovechkin brings a lot more valuable intangibles to the table than Kane.

Like better defense, crushing body checks, and less work for the team's PR department.
